The problem

What’s actually in your products?

When you’re trying to conceive, what touches your skin every day matters. But the ingredient lists are designed to be skipped — long, technical, and printed in the smallest legal type.

01

Phthalates

Often hidden under “fragrance” on the ingredient list. Research associates exposure with lower ovarian reserve and poorer IVF outcomes — a fragrance loophole that can conceal hundreds of undisclosed chemicals.

02

Parabens

Common preservatives in beauty and personal-care products. As xenoestrogens they can mimic estrogen, and studies have associated them with diminished ovarian reserve.

03

BPA & bisphenols

In packaging, can liners, and thermal receipts. These endocrine disruptors have been linked in research to egg quality and implantation — and prior exposure estimates may have been understated.

04

PFAS

“Forever chemicals” that persist in the body and turn up in waterproof and long-wear formulas. Research has linked higher levels to a longer time-to-pregnancy.

How it works

See it work, once.

A single scan, start to finish. Nothing edited, nothing sped up — this is how long it takes to find out whether the product in your hand belongs in your preconception routine.

01ScanPoint the camera at any barcode. The product, its brand, and its full ingredient list come back in under a second.
02ScoreEach ingredient is weighed against the evidence — with extra weight on fertility and endocrine flags — and surfaced with a clear safety grade.
03DecideKeep the product, swap it for a cleaner alternative, or save it to your scan history. Your call, with the research attached.

B
Good · 60–79

Acceptable. Minor concerns worth noting.

C

Common questions
How is Pomenatal different from Yuka?

Yuka is great for food — but it wasn't built for fertility. Pomenatal focuses on beauty, personal-care, cosmetics, household products, and supplements, with scoring weighted toward preconception. We flag the endocrine disruptors that research links to egg quality, ovulation, hormone balance, implantation, and time-to-pregnancy, and we tailor scores to where you are in your conception journey.

What can I scan?

Beauty products, personal-care items, cosmetics, household products, and supplements — deodorants, shampoos, lotions, makeup, cleaning products, vitamins, and prenatals. Point the camera at the barcode and Pomenatal returns the ingredient list and a fertility-tuned safety score in about a second.

How does the scoring work?

Each ingredient is classified as positive, neutral, caution, or negative based on published scientific evidence, with extra weight given to fertility and endocrine-disrupting flags. Ingredients listed first (highest concentration) carry more weight. For supplements and prenatals, we also look at third-party testing, ingredient efficacy and dosing, contaminant risk, and formulation integrity.

What data sources do you use?

We pull from Open Beauty Facts (~100k beauty and personal-care products), the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (~100k supplement labels), and EU CosIng (15k+ cosmetic ingredients). No proprietary black-box databases — our sources are transparent and verifiable.

Is Pomenatal free?

Yes — your first 5 barcode scans, ingredient breakdowns, and basic safety scores are free. Premium ($9/year) unlocks unlimited scans, personalized fertility scoring based on your preconception profile, cleaner-swap suggestions, favorites and collections, and product recall alerts.

What if a product isn't in your database?

You can add products we don't have yet. Pomenatal uses OCR to read the ingredient list from a photo you take of the label, scores it on the spot, and adds it to the database for everyone.

Is my data private?

Your preconception profile is stored securely and never sold to third parties. It's used only to personalize your ingredient scores. You can delete your data at any time from the app settings.

What phones are supported?

Pomenatal is available for iPhone running iOS 16 or later. Android support is coming soon.
